Case study

Unlock and Drive: premium locksmith for Silver Spring, Maryland

A Silver Spring, Maryland locksmith needed a site that projected security and professionalism — deep navy authority, amber accents, and a chat system that never gives away lockpicking instructions.

What they needed

Unlock and Drive is the only locksmith tenant on the platform — which means every locksmith-specific feature was built specifically for them. The security-midnight design family (deep navy #0A1F3D + amber accent) had to encode professional authority without looking like a template. The bigger challenge was chat safety. Locksmith AI chat carries unique legal exposure: a chat that gives step-by-step lock-picking instructions is a liability. We built the strictest safety layer in the platform — including an auto-veto that fires on any picking or cylinder-bypass vocabulary.

  • security-midnight design family — deep navy and amber, zero generic feel
  • 17-section bespoke homepage spec (Sprint BB)
  • Locksmith-specific chat safety — auto-veto on picking/bypass vocab
  • Per-route override files for all 17 public routes

What we built

  1. security-midnight design family

Built the deep navy (#0A1F3D) + amber accent palette as a named design family. Day/night split handled separately so dark mode doesn't collapse the already-dark surfaces. Every component reads the same authority aesthetic.

  2. 17-section bespoke homepage

Shipped LocksmithHomepageSpec — 17 sections authored specifically for Unlock and Drive. Not a template reuse. Includes emergency CTA, service grid, commercial services callout, testimonials, and a trust-authority section.

  3. 17 per-route overrides

Every public route has a bespoke override file: FAQ, commercial, financing, reviews, locations, services, team, privacy, blog, contact, service areas, pricing, and more. No route falls back to a shared layout.

  4. Locksmith-specific chat safety pack

L0 regex auto-veto on picking, cylinder, bypass, and lock-defeat vocabulary. L1 LLM judge. L2 reinforced system prompt. L3 Gemini temperature ratchet. Every refusal logged to chat_safety_events.

How it's built

Runs on the shared WebsiteFactory platform. The security-midnight design family is a CSS custom-property layer. The locksmith chat safety pack is a fully isolated TypeScript module — no shared vocabulary with garage-door or water-damage rules.
